InSight Women's Bible Study: Isaiah

As children of Yahweh, our roles are to be “prayerful scripture readers, comfort bringers, forgiveness announcers, and glory proclaimers,” according to the historian/theologian, NT Wright. Sounds good, right? Immersing ourselves in the Old Testament book of Isaiah prepares us for these jobs. Although we usually think of Isaiah as a book of rebuke for idolatry and paganism, chapters 40 – 55 comprise what is known as the Book of Comfort. In these chapters, Yahweh proclaims he will fulfill his covenant promises, culminating in the renewal of all creation. Isaiah prefigures the saving work of Jesus, identified as the Suffering Servant, so we will also dive into the New Testament. Each week we will study a portion of chapters 40 – 55 and join in songs of praise, followed by small group discussions. Please join our study community and even if you cannot come to every session, you are always welcome!
